PHONOLOGY SOUND (FON) A. Letter The letter or script is an alphabetic element that represents the sound of the example of the letter A then it sounds a and so. The letter Diftong Diftong is a combination of two vowels that produce double sounds. Letters that include diphthongs, namely: ai, au, and oi. Example 1. AI: ain, shaitan, divorce 2. AU: audit, merchant, drought 3. OI: -, boycott, amboi. E. Consonant Letter Consolidation Gabubgan consonant letters in Indonesian there are 4, namely: kh, ny, ng, and sy. Examples in use in Bahasa Indonesia are Special, Nyimak, Angkasa, Cue. F. Phoneme The phoneme is the smallest unit of sound that can distinguish meaning. Example: then-time, year-god, etc. G. Tribal Patterns Some syllable patterns that we know, among others: 1. Tribal Word Pattern KV Examples: books, variety, shoes, rods, etc. 2. VK Pattern Verbs Examples: faith, beautiful, archives, people, shrimp, etc. 3. VKK Pattern Verbs Examples: experiment, exclusive, etc. 4.
