Minangkabau or Baso Minang language is one of the Austronesian languages ​​spoken especially in West Sumatra, western part of RIAU province and spread across cities across Indonesia.

Minangkabau language also became the lingua franca language in the west coast of North Sumatra, even reaching far to the west coast of Aceh. In addition, the Minangkabau language is also spoken by the people of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia whose ancestors were migrants from the Minang realm since centuries ago.

For the communication between Minangkabau speakers of such a diverse language, finally used the dialect of Padang as the standard language of Minangkabau or called Baso Padang or Baso Urang Crew.
